
Cyclothymic Disorder
Individuals with cyclothymic disorder experience constant mood swings, hypomania, and depressive symptoms. The mood swings are at a lower level of intensity compared to bipolar I and Bipolar II disorders. The symptoms occur often and are more constant than bipolar I and bipolar II. This is better described as a constant ups and downs of mood, but less intense than individuals struggling with bipolar I or bipolar II symptoms.
Symptoms of Cyclothymic Disorder
- For at least two years, many periods of hypomanic and depressive symptoms.
- The symptoms do not meet the criteria for hypomanic or depressive episode.
- During the two-year period, the symptoms (mood swings) have lasted for at least half the time and have never stopped for more than two months.
